Puerto Jiménez is the gateway to Corcovado National Park and the Osa Peninsula — Costa Rica’s wildest and most remote region. Corcovado is home to all four of Costa Rica’s monkey species, giant anteaters, tapirs, scarlet macaws, and one of the last remaining old-growth lowland rainforests in Central America. Access by land requires long drives on unpaved roads, river crossings, and boat transfers. A private charter from San José lands you in Puerto Jiménez in approximately 55–65 minutes. From there, guided tours into Corcovado, sea kayaking, and sport fishing are all within easy reach.
